I had to leave a review while I was here because I did not want to forget! SHOUT OUT TO RUBEN! His customer service is amazing! My partner and I came in for Houston Restaurant Week for lunch. I had quite a few questions and Ruben was very patient with me and answered each one. He gave me options for my choice of wine that paired with my chicken parmigiana. That and my Caesar salad were good with the requested salt and pepper. The creamy tomato sauce was great with my noodles as well. By partner had a sangria to start and said that was good. She loved her tomato basil soup and the added pepper sealed the taste in for her. With her sauced garlic wings of their regular menu, she was not too thrilled. In the restaurants defense, she loves spicy wings, and even though I tasted a little heat on them (it gave Buffalo and garlic), she would try something different next time. Overall, great experience and a plus for Ruben’s customer service. Thank you!

It is always a pleasure to visit Candelari’s Italiano! The atmosphere is amazing and really clean. The servers are fantastic and Sam the bartender makes the best drinks ever!! Authentic arancini’s and The Gelato OMG!! I really recommend this place!!! Come and enjoy a delicious test of Italy!!

Update (April 23, 2026): I attempted to resolve this directly with both the restaurant and corporate with no response or resolution. I have now submitted a formal complaint with the Houston Health Department. I recently moved from Houston and came back into town for a women’s conference with my church. I was really looking forward to sitting down for a nice meal with two of my girlfriends, so I intentionally chose this restaurant because it was listed as gluten-friendly and had great reviews. Before ordering, I reviewed the menu and clearly communicated my gluten allergy with our server. After getting my drink and right before my meal arrived, I was brought bread that I was told was gluten-free. Later, another staff member came out and mentioned gluten-free bread again, which immediately made me question what I had already eaten. When I asked for clarification, it became clear I had been given the wrong bread, and I became physically sick. (Attempted to eat my meal that was boxed up I couldn’t even touch the next day it was extremely bland) I do want to acknowledge that Adrian, our server, was great and attentive. Excellent food that's a little spendy but as they say you get what you pay for. The very pretty waitress knew her job well and is definitely customer service oriented. She had the refills ready as or before I needed them. She also was a good conversationalist that knows the menu well. The food was great though the entre of chicken alfredo was a little bland for my liking. The appetizer of fried shrimp and calamari was very good. Though the dipping sauce was again a little bland. The desert though was perfect the Madagascar Vanilla Gelato with the Tiramitsu was the perfect finish to a great meal. The portions were perfect. The one negative about everything was the glass door to the restrooms was absolutely filthy and it should be the cleanest door and glass since it was the entry to the restrooms. That being said the ambiance was great, the decor inside was rich with an authentic Italian feel to it. The food was plated real nice as well. The menu had plenty of options as well.

Juliaaaaa!!!! My God today. This was my first time at this restaurant. I was on a Valentines Date with my lil boo and EVERYTHING was amazing. The short rib ravioli is to die for! I’m not a fan of mushrooms but when I tell you I devoured the dish! AAAAND I got the sauce to go because it was so good. Their wings, peach Bellini (frozen), mozzarella sticks, and meatball appetizer, were all amazing. Julia was our server and she was great! I would absolutely recommend this place. Also: I don’t care what they say, that caramel has bourbon in it! It was so potent! 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 I’ll definitely be back!
